Platform Connection Issues

If your platform isn't connecting or events aren't coming through, here's how to diagnose and fix it.

OAuth Authorization Failed

If the OAuth redirect doesn't complete (you get an error page or land back on the dashboard without connecting):

  1. Clear browser cookies for 4throck.cloud and the platform's site (kick.com, twitch.tv, etc.).
  2. Disable browser extensions — ad blockers and privacy extensions can block OAuth redirects.
  3. Try a different browser or incognito mode.
  4. Make sure you're logged into the correct account on the platform before starting the connect flow.

Events Not Arriving (Follows, Subs, Raids)

If the platform shows as connected but events aren't triggering alerts or TTS:

  1. Go to Connected Platforms in the dashboard and check the connection status.
  2. If it shows a warning or "token expired", click Reconnect and re-authorize.
  3. Check that the specific widget (Alerts, etc.) is enabled in the dashboard and added to the Compositor canvas.

Twitch note: Follows require the moderator:read:followers scope. If you authorized before this scope was added, reconnect Twitch to pick up the updated permissions.

YouTube note: Events only arrive during an active live stream. The connection won't show activity in test mode or when offline.

Reconnecting After Token Expiry

Platform tokens expire periodically (Twitch tokens last ~60 days; Kick, YouTube, and TikTok vary). If your connection stops working after a period of time:

  1. Go to Connected Platforms.
  2. Click Reconnect next to the platform.
  3. Complete the OAuth flow again.

This is normal — it's a platform security requirement, not a 4thRock issue.

Platform-Specific Feature Support

Not all features are available on every platform:

Follow eventsYesYesYesYes
Sub eventsYesYesYesNo
Raid eventsYesYesNoNo
Donation eventsYesYesNoNo (gifts only)

If a feature is missing for your platform, it's a platform limitation — not something that can be fixed in the dashboard.

Chat Messages Not Appearing in Overlay

  1. Confirm your platform is connected in Connected Platforms.
  2. Confirm the Chat widget is added to the Compositor canvas.
  3. Check that the Chat widget isn't hidden (eye icon in the Layers panel).
  4. Verify chat is actually active — send a message yourself and see if it appears.

Multiple Platform Connections

You can connect multiple platforms at the same time. Chat from all platforms merges into the Chat overlay. Alerts fire for events from any connected platform.

If you want to use only one platform at a time, disconnect the others from Connected Platforms.
