Platform Connection
4thRock connects to Kick, Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok through each platform's authorization. Over time, that authorization can expire. When it does, 4thRock can no longer read your chat or receive events for that platform until you re-authorize it.
Use this checklist when chat or events stop, or when you see a reminder that a connection has expired.
1. Confirm the platform shows connected
Open your dashboard and find your platform connections. A healthy connection is shown as connected. If a platform shows as expired, disconnected, or needs attention, that is the one to fix.
2. Re-authorize an expired connection
Re-authorizing happens from the same place you connected the platform in the first place. Start the platform's authorization again and approve the access request. This refreshes the connection so 4thRock can resume reading chat and receiving events.
For full step-by-step instructions, see Connect Your Platform.
3. Check health from chat
You can check a connection's health without leaving your stream:
- Type
!status(or its alias!ping) in your chat. - The response tells you whether your connection is healthy or the link has expired.
- If a connection is expired, the response may include a re-login link so you can re-authorize quickly.
When a connection has been expired for a while, 4thRock also sends a periodic reminder in chat so you do not miss it. The reminder names the connection that needs re-authorizing.
On Kick, posting a re-login link requires the bot to be a moderator. If the bot is not a moderator, the reminder asks you to re-authorize from the dashboard instead of including a link. If you want the link in chat, add the bot as a moderator on your Kick channel.
4. If chat or events stop mid-stream
If messages or alerts go quiet during a stream:
- Run
!statusor!pingto see whether a connection has expired. - If a connection is expired, re-authorize it from the dashboard. You do not need to end your stream to do this.
- Confirm the platform shows connected again in the dashboard.
- Send a test message in your chat to verify 4thRock is reading it.
A connection only stays healthy while its authorization is valid, so re-authorizing is the fix whenever a platform stops responding.
